Wrestling Regionals Preview: Fruita Monument Wildcats

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Over the weekend the regular season wrapped up for wrestling, and now it's time to go all in for regionals.

The 9th-ranked Fruita Monument Wildcats are going in confident, having a 17-3 duals record. Last season the 'Cats had two placers at state, and this year a couple of standouts are ready to help Fruita's cause as they search for their first state qualifier.

"It really hurt a lot and it just set the tone for this year to come in, work harder, get after it more, and it's really starting to pay off," said Chase Clayton, a junior who did not qualify for state in 2013. "Hopefully I can go in there and make it to state this year."

"Last year I didn't even make varsity, I was behind a pretty good kid," said Max McLean, a senior. "But this year I'm doing pretty good. I'm third seed going into regionals so I mean I'm doing pretty good this year, pretty excited."
