Hennigan, who replaced Otis Smith with the Magic, spent the past four seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder and the four years before that with the San Antonio Spurs. The last two seasons he was the Thunder's assistant general manager for player personnel.
Hennigan faces several challenges with Orlando. He must hire a new head coach and deal with Dwight Howard's uncertain future with the team as well as prepare for the June 28 draft.
The top priority is finding a head coach, and he plans talk to Howard soon.
"Clearly Dwight is one of the best playing in the NBA. His resume speaks for itself," Hennigan said Thursday at his press conference. "I know personally, I'm looking forward to sitting down with him and sharing the vision and direction we're looking to go."
