Snowpack totals higher than average

MESA COUNTY, Colo. With these winter storms and snow totals piling up, snow pack levels and drought danger for later in the year have continued to drop.

Meteorologists with the National Weather Service tell us while we'll be seeing a brief break from the snow over the next couple of days, it won't last long.

The Natural Resources Conservation Service has begun its annual snow survey program.

Teams measure the amount of water in snow which helps local farmers and water districts know how much we can expect from spring runoff so far.

Snow pack levels in Colorado are mostly above average.
