Sochi and his mother.

Denver, Colo. – Denver Zoo is celebrating the birth of a critically endangered Amur leopard cub named Sochi who was born on Dec. 3, 2013.

The young male is the tenth cub born of his species at Denver Zoo since Amur leopards arrived in 1989. After spending some time with his mother, Sochi can now be seen by guests in the Feline Building.

Amur leopards are now nearly extinct due to poaching for fur, loss of habitat and trophy hunting. They are considered the most endangered cats on the planet.
