GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. If you're a Verizon customer, you may have received a strange phone call over the last couple of days.
Reports about Verizon users getting phone calls instructing them to sign into a fake Verizon website have been flying in.
The call claims the company overcharged the customer and they must sign into the website to obtain a credit on their account.
The calls seem legitimate as the scammers have figured out a way to make the Verizon call-center's phone number appear on the phone's caller ID.
"Scam artists nowadays are tricky," says Verizon customer, Blake Widmann "If you look at your phone and you see the caller ID pop up and says its Verizon, who are you to say that it's not?"
But by signing into the fake website, you may be giving your personal information to the scammers.
Verizon officials say if you receive communication about your account that appears suspicious and may be a scam, it probably is.
