GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. For registered nurses interested in boosting their credentials, Colorado Mesa University is offering a faster way to make that happen.
CMU has a new online program for registered nurses to attain Bachelor of Science degrees in nursing in 14 months instead of the usual two years.
Hospitals are encouraging RNs to get their BSN degrees, but it can be difficult on top of a full-time job and personal responsibilities.
"Non-traditional students because of the fact they have so much to balance in their lives, online becomes a very important potential for them," said Rick Taggart, of Colorado Mesa University.
BSN degrees give nurses the chance to try management, administration and other areas of the medical field.
CMU is now accepting applications for the program online.
The first round of classes will start in August, but students have four other dates they can start the program throughout the year.
