GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The common complaints Avalon Theatre managers heard about the old theatre were in reference to the old, uncomfortable seats.
"The number one request we've had from all the many patrons, we have over 90,000 a year, was 'Oh my gosh, can you get more comfortable seats?," said Debbie Kovalik, director of the Grand Junction Visitor and Convention Bureau, the Avalon Theatre and Two Rivers Convention Center.
More than 1,000 seats are being drilled into the floor of the Avalon Theatre this week.
"They look nicer. They're a little bit wider," Kovalik said. "We've got wider spacing in between the rows. It's going to make for a much more comfortable experience."
The installation is one of the last phases of the renovation for the original theatre, which should be complete by mid-June.
The grand opening of the theatre is set for mid-September once construction for the expansion is complete.
