FRUITA, Colo. Tuesday marked the beginning National Nurses week that recognizes the 3.1 million individuals across the US that diligently work to save lives and improve healthcare.
It's a profession that continues to grow and change.
Registered Nurses continue to take on more and more responsibilities and can work in many different areas of the medical field from the pediatrics to medical technology.
"It's a great profession, it's not always an easy profession, but it's enduring, it'll be here, and there's no place to go but up with nursing,” says Janice Crunk of Family Health West.
Nurses are often seen as the face of healthcare, working with doctors and staying with patients long after their initial diagnosis.
The field continues to grow because many registered nurses go on to further their education in masters and PHD programs.
