GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The numbers are in, on Monday night the Grand Junction City Council was briefed for the first time this year on the condition of our local economy... and trends for the first few months show a mixed review.
The city's revenue department prepares the pile of charts, graphs and tables to help give an idea of our economy's strengths and weaknesses and threats the city may face for the year.
"[It shows] how 1st quarter this year compares to 1st quarter of other years," says Grand Junction Revenue Supervisor, Elizabeth Tace-Jada. "We can make some assumptions regarding the performance for the rest of the year."
One of the big items they look at during their review is the quarterly sales tax revenue which shows how much each sector of the market is making on sales and therefore, how much the city will make in taxes.
