GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Driving under the influence is no joking matter but currently in Colorado, the penalty for being caught on a DUI is just a misdemeanor, even for repeat offenders.
But lawmakers are working to change that with a new bill targeting those repeat offenders.
If the legislation were to pass, drivers who receive three DUI's in a seven year span or four over fifteen years would be slapped with a class four felony offense.
The sentence could mean anywhere from two to six years in prison.
