Six things you shouldn't buy in September
Savvy shoppers should wait for prices to drop, or for selection to improve.
If you want a bargain, you shouldn't make the following six purchases in September, according to Time magazine's website.

1. Next year's models
The newest cars are in, and can be particularly expensive in September. Bargains are more likely for last year's versions, which dealers may be anxious to sell off.
2. TVs
Some say January, February, March, April, November and December are good times to purchase a television. But not September. Stores try to get as much money for them as possible until November and particularly Black Friday, which is perhaps the best day to buy one.
3. Cellphones
Cellphone sales are rare in September, but that rule comes with a caveat: Some stores offer discounts for the last few days of any month if sales are lagging.
4. Fall clothing
Instead of buying fall fashions when demand is high in September, wait. Look for lower prices in November, when the herd is more focused on winter clothing.
5. Backpacks
Against all logic, backpacks often go on sale in August, when everyone is shopping for school supplies. By September, the sales are generally over and selection is usually limited.
6. Diamonds
