GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. On Christmas Eve, residents in Grand Junction waited eagerly for those last minute packages.
On Tuesday, it was Dave Woodwell's job with the U.S. Postal Service to make sure residents got everything they need come Christmas. "It's nice to delivery something to somebody that may expect it, but when you see the reaction their face their glad they got it," said Woodwell.
On Woodwell's route, he delivers to more than 500 customers. "At this time of year, I get about 2,000 pieces of mail a day, I get about 30-40 packages a day," said Woodwell.
Nationwide, the U.S. Postal Service shipped more than 14 billion pieces of mail this holiday season. The number of parcels sent this year was up 12 percent from last year.
Woodwell said, "So whatever it is, when I deliver it, I'm glad I've completed that cycle. It's gratifying at the end of the day to do this job."
