Grand Junction, Colo. -- The Grand Junction Fire Department, Mesa County Sheriff’s Department and Clifton Fire Department responded to a structure fire on multiple structures at 702 30 Road.
At 4:11 p.m. on Saturday, initial reports indicated a shed fire involving an RV. Later, there were reports of multiple explosions occurring while the building was on fire.
A 27-foot travel trailer, a large utility building, a garage, a shed and a small utility trailer were involved in the blaze. Inside the garage and utility building were two vehicles, industrial equipment, propane tanks and compressed gases. The propane tanks are believed to be the cause of the explosions during the fire.
The fire was hard to put out due to the large amount of flammables, equipment in the buildings and gusty winds.
The shed is reported to have been a complete loss, but the cause of the fire has not been determined.
