GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Christmas Eve looks different for everyone. From dinners with family and friends, a trip to the movies, maybe even a walk through a snow-covered trail, and for some across the western slope, it means a trip to midnight mass.
At Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Grand Junction, newcomers and regulars intermix for an evening of singing, rejoicing and focusing on the true meaning of Christmas. For some who attended the mass it is a tradition that really starts the Christmas day.
"With this celebration we are emphasizing that no, it's not all of that commercial stuff, it’s not all the gifts and parties, it really is the fact that we have a God that loves us," says Father Edmundo Valera, of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
