The Junior Service League Prepares for their annual fundraiser, Viva el Vino, at Two Rivers Convention Center
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. This weekend the Junior Service League is inviting the community to their 25th annual cocktail party, Viva el Vino. All profits raised at the event will be given back to non-profits in Mesa County in the form of a grant.
Last year Viva el Vino brought in over $40,000 and this year the league hopes to break that record. The event chairperson, Cindy Brown, explained that this is one of three fundraisers that the JSL does throughout the year. The league also sells their own cookbooks and hosts a 5K to help fund, mammograms, biopsy screenings and ultrasounds.
"It's so neat to be at the reception where they give the grants back and to understand and learn where those grants are going,” Brown said. “It's really a positive outcome to why we do this."
This year the event will have over 200 wines to sample, food and beer from the Ale house. The theme is an Enchanted Garden and there will also be a silent auction with items like Disneyland tickets and helicopter tours.
"Everybody is very helpful and they want to volunteer,” Brown said. “They’re just so gracious with their time and I think that is my favorite part about working with the women of JSL."
The Junior Service League is expecting over 500 attendees. They are also offering a VIP option for guests who want to drink finer wines and champagne. The event is tomorrow night at Two Rivers Convention Center. General admission tickets are $60 and VIP tickets are $90. You can buy them at the door, online at jslgj.com or at any US Bank location.
