GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. For the last couple of years, January has had the highest unemployment rate of any other month because holiday hiring has stopped and construction and landscaping jobs aren't available.

On Tuesday, more than 300 people, including 60 veterans, crowded the Mesa County Workforce Center's Jump Start Job Fair in hopes of finding a job.

40 employers from heath care to transportation to hospitality industries set up their tables and gave out information to interested people.

Officials at the Workforce Center said they have seen success with the job fair. Some who went last year are still employed in the same job they got from the fair.
