GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Local mom Heather Jensen was found guilty on three of five charges back in January after her two young sons died of hyperthermia in November 2012.
With less than a week to go until she's sentenced, there's a possibility she could get away without any time behind bars.
Jensen was found guilty of false reporting to authorities, which carries a sentence of probation to six months in jail.
She was also found guilty of two charges of child abuse resulting in death, carrying a sentence of probation to 16 years for each charge.
Assistant District Attorney Rich Tuttle said child abuse resulting in death isn't a crime seen often in Mesa County or even in Colorado. Judge Valerie Robison will ultimately decide Jensen's fate on Friday.
She was found not guilty by a jury of 12 on two counts of criminally negligent homicide.
Jensen was charged after leaving her sons, William and Tyler, in her car with the heat on while having sex with a man in another car.
