IDAHO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) Holiday travelers and skiers headed back to Denver are facing long delays on Interstate 70.
Eastbound I-70 in Idaho Springs is shut down following a truck crash and fire Thursday morning.
Eastbound travelers must leave the highway at exit 240 and take Colorado 103 until the accident is cleared. For drivers who are still west of the Eisenhower Tunnel, Highway 9 over Hoosier Pass to Fairplay is the recommended alternate route.
KMGH-TV (http://bit.ly/1jMdfAA ) reports the truck was carrying several crushed cars. Idaho Springs Police Chief Dave Wohlers told the station that the driver was going too fast for the curves in the area, causing the load to shift and the truck to roll.
