MESA COUNTY, Colo. Mesa County has declared an emergency for the West Salt Creek mudslide.
The declaration will bring in state and federal resources to help with disaster response.
"Anybody from the state or the federal level that could bring some expertise that could help us assess the result of this slide and whether we have an further threats that we need to be concerned about," Mesa County Administrator Tom Fisher.
Experts from departments like the United States Geological Service and Forest Service are on their way into Mesa County to take a look at the body of water building up behind the slide and what kind of risk it poses.
The declaration of emergency will be lifted once the county feels comfortable with the assessment of the situation.
