Voter turnout low for primary election

MESA COUNTY, Colo. Election day is here and many are hard at work to make sure your votes are counted, but if you haven't cast your ballot yet there's still time.

The Mesa County Elections Office in Grand Junction is open and accepting ballots until 7PM on Tuesday.

Turnout is low for this primary on Tuesday morning only about 19,000 people had voted.

While more ballots are expected to come in before the end of the day officials say it's similar to what they saw in the 2010 and 2012 primaries.

Colorado is a same day voter registration state and full services centers in Fruita, Clifton and Grand Junction can help you get registered and vote if you make it there before 7PM.

Officials say the busiest center is in Grand Junction, but Fruita should be less crowded for people trying to beat the rush.
