Tom Parrish has spent his life in and around the education system.
Parrish studied Elementary Education at the University of Northern Colorado and then Curriculum and Instruction at Western State College.
Studying education prepared him to work formerly as the Executive Director of Elementary Schools in District 51, and currently as a Field Supervisor at the university level. He also has three children that graduated from District 51 and three grandchildren currently in the system.
Parrish finds time to give back to our community through the Mesa County Partners, Designation Imagination, Odyssey of the Mind, and Kids Voting of Mesa County.
He hopes to emphasize the impact bullying can have on students, first by recognizing that there is a bullying problem in the district. One of his major goals is to create schools where bullying is not accepted and reinforced by consistent consequences.
"I believe that all of our students need high quality schools to succeed in the global economy,” says Parrish. “I also know that if we have high quality schools here in Mesa County we will attract businesses and jobs to our community. I am committed to seeing that every one of our students has the skills necessary to successfully enter college or work upon graduation.”
