GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - A Grand Junction man will serve three years in community corrections for sexually assaulting a young girl over a three year duration.
According to court officials, 44-year-old Charles Bourbeau was sentenced on Monday to three years in community corrections for sexual assault on a child. Additional charges of sexual abuse on a child by one in a position of trust and sexual abuse on a child with a pattern of abuse were dropped as part of a plea bargain.
The abuse took place in both Moffat County and Mesa County between October of 2009 and December of 2011, according to an arrest affidavit. The victim told police she was nine years old when Bourbeau began sexually assaulting her.
The victim finally came forward after three years of abuse when she told her guardian about the sexual assault.
Bourbeau was arrested in March of this year. According to court officials, he'll serve three years in community corrections with credit for time served of two days. He'll be placed on probation upon his release.
