DENVER - The agent for a Colorado Avalanche goalie who was arrested in an alleged domestic violence incident says the accusations are false.
Semyon Varlamov was arrested on charges of kidnapping and third-degree assault. He's being held in a Denver jail and is scheduled to appear before a judge Thursday morning.
The 25-year-old turned himself into police Wednesday evening, after practicing with the team that day.
Varlamov's agent, Paul Theofanous, says he is "completely innocent."
Police have released no details about the case, other than to say it involved someone with whom Varlamov was in an intimate relationship.
The Avalanche said in a statement they're aware of the allegations but won't comment further until the conclusion of the investigation.
