Weld County not offering emergency contraceptive
Planned Parenthood is asking Weld County commissioners to reconsider a decision to stop offering emergency contraceptives at county health clinics.
According to KMGH-TV (http://tinyurl.com/a9l7azx ), minutes from county board meetings in 2010 show county commissioners were concerned that the emergency contraceptive Plan B could cause an abortion, which has been disputed by health officials.
Records show the board members were concerned about losing federal funding if they cut emergency contraceptive services, so they decided to refer clients to other agencies.
Planned Parenthood calls the information cited by commissioners outdated and has urged the board to reconsider the issue.
Commissioners did not return phone calls seeking comment.
