HOMETOWN: Butte, MT
EDUCATION: BS in Meteorology with a minor in Mathematics from the Metropolitan State College of Denver in Denver, CO.
EXPERIENCE: I have been extremely passionate about meteorology throughout my life growing up in Montana. I moved to Colorado in 2004 to pursue my dream and achieve a degree in Meteorology. After completing school, I worked on-camera doing web and cable weathercasts for Your Weather Network out of Englewood, CO. I have also interned at a meteorological software company and spent a summer being an observer for the Urban Flood Control District in Denver, CO. Aside from my professional experience, I have been pursuing and documenting severe weather for the past thirteen years and have spent the past few summers chasing severe storms out on the plains. In fact, I had the opportunity to work with the TWISTEX team which is featured on Discovery Channel’s “Storm Chasers” this past May.
INTERESTS: Weather is obviously my biggest passion, but I have a lot of other hobbies as well. I am interested in all of the earth and physical sciences and enjoy furthering my knowledge whenever I can. I love to spend time outdoors hiking and exploring. While most of the pictures I take center around weather, I consider myself an amateur photographer of many things and never leave my camera behind. I am no stranger to the kitchen and am often cooking up experimental masterpieces; and then going for a run to work them off. I have an eclectic musical taste and play a few instruments but I also love sports! I’m a big fan of the Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls and Cubs.
I love Colorado and the Western Slope seems like a great place. I can’t wait to get out and explore the back country! I am very excited to be a part of the First Warn 8 Weather Team and am looking forward to honing my forecasting skills to the unique and challenging climatology of the region.
