Veterans Day deals and events

There are plenty of events happening over the weekend to commemorate Veterans Day.

In honor of the holiday The Home Front Cares, a non profit helping veterans and their families, is working to raise over $60 thousand.

All weekend long, its doing that by hosting cookouts at Sam’s Clubs across Colorado.

The profits will benefit veteran in need of financial support.

This is the organizations first-ever statewide campaign and the Grand Junction Sam’s Club was one of the first to join the effort.

Store Manager John Shihady says, “Sam’s club loves to help the community any way we can and The Home Front Cares is a special organization that helps out the troops and anytime we can help the troops we're in.”

For the veterans in the area, there are plenty of free and discounted meals available this weekend to thank you for your service.

Here are a few discounts to take advantage of locally.

For military service men and women only:

Applebees Free Meal
Applebees is offering a free signature entree on Sunday November 11th at participating locations.  Must present valid Veteran’s form of identification.

Arby’s Free Roast Beef Sandwich
Arby’s largest franchisee is offering a free roast beef sandwich at their 280 Arby’s restaurants on Monday, November 12 . This offer is valid only at all participating Arby’s locations in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois and Colorado (Colorado Springs and Pueblo).

Chili’s Free Meal
Sunday, November 11 from 11 am to 5 pm Veterans and active-duty military get a choice of 7 free meals. Must show proof of military service.

Denny’s All You Can Eat Pancakes
Get all you can eat pancakes for all active duty military and veterans with a valid ID on Monday, November 12

Golden Corral Free Meal
Get a Veterans Day free meal to any veteran who has served in the United States military or is a current active duty service member. All Golden Corral locations will be participating On Monday, November 12 from 4 PM to 9 PM. No identification is required to get your free Veterans day meal.

Hooters 10 Free Boneless Wings
On Sunday November 11th receive 10 free boneless wings with the purchase of a drink for all veterans and active duty military. Military ID or proof of service required.

Little Caesars Free Crazy Bread
Receive free Crazy Bread with valid ID Sunday, November 11.

Olive Garden Free Meal
On Sunday, November 11 all veterans and military active duty will receive a choice of 1 of 5 entrees plus unlimited soup, salad and breadsticks.

Outback Steakhouse Free Bloomin’ Onion® and Coca-Cola®
On November 11th and 12th military personnel and veterans get FREE Bloomin’ Onion® and Coca-Cola®. Must have valid identification. Also, receive 10% off the entire guest check (excluding alcohol, taxes and gratuity) from November 13- December 31.

Red Lobster
Sunday, November 12 a free appetizer to all veterans and active-duty personnel.

Texas Roadhouse Free Lunch 
Monday, November 12 select from a special veterans lunch menu.

Big Lots Discount
Saturday November 10th, veterans, active-duty and military families get 10% off the entire purchase. Must show valid military ID.

Home Depot Veterans Day Discount
Every year on Veteran’s Day the Home Depot offers a 10% discount on Veteran’s day.  Must present a valid military ID.  Home Depot also offers this discount to Veterans on Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day.

Jo Ann Fabric and Craft Stores 20% Off
From Thursday November 8 thru Monday, November 12 get 20% off. Official Facebook post “Check out Military Discount Days, too — present proof of your military service, past or present, or Military Dependent ID to receive 20% off your total purchase (including regular-, sale-priced & clearance items).”

Lowe’s Veterans Day Discount
All Veterans receive a 10% discount on Veteran’s Day up to $5,000 on in-stock and special-order purchases.  The offer can’t be used online, on previous sales or on sales of services or gift cards.  Must present a valid Veteran Identification Card (VIC), valid Form DD214 or other proof of service.  Lowes also offers this Veteran’s discount on Memorial Day and the Fourth of July.
