Verizon Wireless is officially launching the new 4G LTE network in the Grand Valley on Thursday.

With the new, expanded network, Verizon customers can expect a much faster browsing experience with their smartphone.

In the past, other companies have had issues when switching to an expanded network or upgrading phones, but Verizon managers say service won't be impacted for any customers following Thursday's launch.

"It's a much more enriched experience for the user because the speeds are up to ten-times faster than what they are on 3G, which is what we've had in the area," said Kyle Crone, retail store manager for Verizon Wireless in Grand Junction.

"Your web browsing is going to be faster...different media, that kind of stuff is going to be ten-times faster than what it normally was," added Crone.

If you currently have a Verizon 4G-enabled device, store managers said the upgrade will automatically activate for you starting Thursday.

They said Verizon's been testing the new technology all day Wednesday to make sure things go as smoothly as possible for the launch.

But, some KJCT viewers report that the upgrade is already working on their phones a day before the switch.
