GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

The night started off with friends drinking beers and watching football, but it ended with an arrest.

According to a police report, Zach McCullough, 26, was showing off his large revolver to his friends when he accidentally triggered it.

"I came out I think it was about 9:40 or so,” guest Alex Sanchez said. “I seen two cops over here, there was a cop here, two cops over there. News cameras everywhere, then there was two guys standing over there with a police officer. One guy had blood on him and everything."

It was inside one of the rooms at the Mesa Inn where the gun went off. The bullet went through the wall and into the adjoining room. One person was inside and suffered minor injuries.

“It's shocking, it's a violent world but I hate to see it happen to what I consider a small community," Patricia Sell said.

"I didn't hear nothing,’ Sanchez said. “That's what surprised me. And then I seen the cop, she ran from over there to over there with a shotgun in her arms and I was like I'm going in the room."

Officers arrested McCullough on charges including prohibited use of a weapon, illegal discharge of a firearm, reckless endangerment, and third degree assault.
