The Grand Junction Fire Department says the blaze that started late Thursday afternoon, is "suspicious."
The cause is still unknown, but the fire department says the fire started in the living room.
Late Thursday afternoon, fire crews descended on a Redlands home that was engulfed in flames.
Those flames erupted around 3:30 this afternoon at a house on Rosevale Road.
Neighbors watched as smoke filled the sky.
According to the Grand Junction Fire Department, the house was unoccupied and no other structures appeared to be in danger.
A nearby electrical wire went down hampering response time. Securing water to fight flames proved to be a challenge as well.
Little Park and Rosevale Road were shut down and school buses were delayed for a short time while crews fought the fire.
It's unknown at this point how the fire started. The fire is being looked at as suspicious, but that doesn't necessarily mean arson. Inspectors are looking at the incident in depth.
