Police are investigating a shooting at a Grand Junction city park Saturday.
Shots rang out at about 6:30 pm at Riverside Park near the Redlands. Police tell us no one was injured in the incident, but a vehicle was hit several times.
A birthday party was going on at the park at the time, but police say the celebration and this incident are not related.
According to witnesses, between three and four shots were fired. Dispatchers were able to gather information that led police to the suspect's vehicle.
With the help of the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, Grand Junction police arrested two suspects during a traffic stop shortly after the shooting at 17th Street and Rood Avenue.
The two men, Marcos Gomez, 20, and Nicholas Guzman, 22, were linked to the crime by witness statements and physical evidence. Both were transported to the Mesa County Jail.
Guzman faces DUI, reckless driving and a weapons charges. Gomez was booked on weapons, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and criminal impersonation charges.
Police are still trying to piece together what exactly happened at the park and what may have led up to the shooting.
