Two Hospitalized After Wreck on Horizon Drive

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

Two people are recovering in the hospital after being involved in a car accident that shut down Horizon Drive Saturday.

It happened just after 5:00pm near the Applebees restaurant. Police say the driver of a white car tried to cross four lanes of traffic, but pulled out right in front of a black jeep.

The jeep broadsided the car. Fire crews were forced to break open the car door to get to the passengers.

Both people inside the car were taken to St. Mary's Hospital and are recovering from from minor injuries.

Traffic was shut down temporarily as a result. Police say the driver of the white car will be cited for careless driving.
