Republican Rep. Scott Tipton is getting big help in his congressional re-election campaign from outside spending in the last month of a race against Democratic state lawmaker Sal Pace.
Americans for Tax Reform dropped a $1.5 million television ad buy last month in support of Tipton.
Pace says the outside help Tipton has gotten could be a sign Republicans are worried about the freshman congressman in the 3rd Congressional District.
Pace has also gotten large boosts from outside groups, including $281,674 from Service Employees International Union, and $423,167 from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
The district is the biggest in the state, covering southern Colorado and the Western Slope up to the Wyoming state line.
