A boy who suffered severe injuries when he was hit by a train in Monument last week is a high school senior.
The Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/P1xtm9 ) 17-year-old Luke Hiser is a senior at Palmer Ridge High School and co-captain of the golf team. Recordings of 911 calls indicate a group of teens found him lying alone on the tracks early Aug. 11 with his foot amputated.
El Paso County sheriff's officials had declined to release the boy's name or age immediately after the accident, saying they were still investigating what happened. They haven't said what led to the accident.
