Taxpayer Assistance Center moving to new office
New location will be 4th St. and Rood Ave.
The I.R.S. Taxpayer Assistance Center in Grand Junction will be moving to a new location soon.
The center is currently located at 561 25 Road, just north of Highway 6.
The last day of operations for that location will be Friday, January 11. The office closes at 4:30 that afternoon.
The business is relocating to 4th Street and Rood Avenue at the Wayne Aspinal Federal Building.
I.R.S. officials say the new office will be open on Monday, January 14 at 8:30 a.m., so they don't expect the move to affect their clients.
"The overall appearance of the building has been redone to give it a more modern look, although they've restored it back to what it would look like in the 1930's, when it was first opened up as a post office," said Rod Grice, supervisor for taxpayers assistance in Grand Junction.
Grice also said the heating and lighting have been redone in the federal building and the look should be much more eye-appealing for their clients.
Visiting an I.R.S. office isn't the only option for federal tax help; for more information visit http://www.irs.gov/localcontacts.
