Taking strides to battle cancer
Grand Junction is making strides towards curing breast cancer.
Its all part of the 15th annual Walk 4 Life, where over 400 people came together to honor survivors, raise awareness, and help save lives.
The event has grown into one of the area's major fundraising events for the battle against breast cancer.
All the proceeds from Saturday morning's walk will fund awareness and detection, as well as mammogram screening for low-income, uninsured individuals in Mesa County.
“It does mean a lot because I don't think anybody has not been affected by breast cancer,” cancer survivor Janelle Bosson said. “To see people out here helping the cause and helping women of Mesa County get education and free mammograms, it’s great.”
Volunteers estimate that today's walk for life will raise over $60,000 to fight cancer.
That’s including a $25,000 donation from City Market.
All that money will stay in Mesa County.
