Suspects from apartment shooting still at large
A man was shot at the Racquet Club Apartments Monday night and MCSO is still looking for the person responsible
One man is still in the hospital after a shooting at the Racquet Club Apartments late Monday night, and now investigators are looking for whoever is responsible.
Investigators for the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office did receive some information about why the suspects and victim were here together but that's not being released at this time.
Authorities are being told by multiple witnesses that there was a large group of people who left the scene.
Law enforcement has also received multiple vehicle descriptions, and they are working to determine if the shooter left in a vehicle or if he or she did so on foot.
Heather Benjamin with MCSO says residents should be on alert, but there's no information on if the suspects are still in the area.
“Always, people should be aware of their surroundings,” she said. “They should keep their doors and windows locked and don't ever open your door and let in anyone you don't know and who doesn't have a legitimate reason to be there.”
The victim is still recovering at St. Mary’s hospital but MCSO is not releasing his name at this point in the investigation.
Investigators did talk to him last night and plan to meet with him again when he's released. He's expected to recover.
The sheriff's office is not releasing any information about evidence or weapons at this time, but an investigator was using a metal detector to search the ground for bullet casings Tuesday afternoon.
Investigators have not determined if drugs or alcohol were involved in Monday nights shooting, but say it is a possibility.
