Suspect in custody after armed robbery at GJ Burger King
Man threatened employees with a gun
The Grand Junction Police Department says a man has been arrested in connection with Tuesday night's robbery at Burger King on North Avenue.
Officers took 22 year-old Deone Tyrone Patterson into custody overnight last night.
According to police, Patterson had already been identified as a possible suspect and was wearing boots, jeans, and carrying a gun that all matched descriptions given by restaurant employees.
The bag he was carrying contained cash in denominations similar to what were stolen during the robbery.
Patterson has been booked into the Mesa County Jail on charges of first-degree kidnapping, aggravated robbery, felony menacing, and theft.
Police say Patterson initially got away with cash after holding employees at gunpoint at that Burger King just after 8pm Tuesday.
According to police, Patterson was wearing a red sweatshirt when he went into the Burger King on North Avenue and demanded money; threatening the employees with a gun.
He made all of the employees go into the cooler until he was able to leave with an undisclosed amount of cash.
He left the area on foot, and witnesses say he had a red and black gym bag with him.
