GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

What do you do when you retire after running a business for thirty years?  Little did this couple know what all they would be doing in a new family adventure in this week's "Boomers & Beyond."

Retire to kick back, travel a little and pursue other interests was the idea for Jean and Eric Duncan, until son Ryan and his wife Jamie got an idea. Soon the Duncan's Gourmet Street Food Truck came on the scene and let’s just say it’s a family affair.

“With my mom, she does a great job on the prep, getting everything ready, helping the customers. All around, just can do pretty much everything,” said Ryan Duncan, head cook for the outfit.

Jean finds herself in the kitchen, albeit this time on wheels and cooking with her son for his customers. Now back in the kitchen and cooking for her son albeit on wheels and to serve his customers.

“It’s fun, you know, I mean it gets real hectic at times, but it’s still fun," Jean Duncan said.

Grandpa Eric doesn’t cook, but holds a couple of important and impressive titles...

“Director of Marketing, yeah," Eric Duncan laughed.  "That’s a good one!  It’s better than Chief Babysitter!"

Grandchildren Derrek, Shelby & Danica all enjoy the time they spend with grandpa while their parents and grandmother work in the truck.

So what was Ryan’s motivation for getting into the food truck business?

“The Food Network channel… watching some of the shows and just how they do and it was a really interesting idea and we went ahead and did it,” Ryan said.

Next came the truck, the menu, paperwork and building the business.

“Once we get out there, the people start noticing the truck. That was the key to it. Then they come and try it and really enjoy it," Ryan said.

Jamie’s food experience taught here what is most important for success.

“I stand outside the truck, take the orders and, you know, talk to the customers, keep them happy. I love customer service,” Jaime Duncan said.

As I gleefully tried the spicy tuna taco, Eric summed up the Duncan’s Gourmet Street Food joint family adventure:

"It’s a future for the family. Jean and I have already taken our shot and did okay and now it’s their turn, is the way I look at.”
