Aman Chabra joined the KJCT 8 team as Sports Director in August 2010. Since coming to the Western Slope, Aman has covered various sporting events around the state including the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Rockies, Colorado Mesa University and local high school events. He's even taken on local athletes to test their skills (and his own) to see if they can "Chump the Chab". Prior to coming to Colorado, Aman worked as a Reporter/Anchor and fill-in Sports Anchor at KIFI Local News 8 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. In his 2+ years in Eastern Idaho, Aman contributed to the region’s #1 local sports show on Friday nights as an anchor/reporter and photographer. He also helped cover Utah Jazz playoff games from EnergySolutions Arena on occasion.

Aman first fell in love with sports growing up in Northern California, crying each time anyone would change the channel from a San Francisco 49ers game. Aman’s first dream was to be a professional athlete, pursuing said goal through his teenage years. He played basketball and baseball at the rival high school of his former KJCT 8 colleague, Pierre Noujaim. Through high school, Aman realized his 5’7, 160 lb stature, and lack of jumping ability most likely wouldn’t cut it in the world of professional sports, so he decided the next best thing for him to do would be to cover it for a living. His first exposure to sports media came as an intern at Sports 1140 where he worked for two summers as a fill-in update host and call-screener for Sacramento’s #1 rated drive-time sports talk-show. Aman then worked at Metro Networks in Sacramento, doing live news, traffic, and weather reports for various stations around Northern California. He attended BYU-Idaho where he helped pioneer the sports coverage for the school’s daily news show, I-News. Aman graduated from there in 2008 with a BA in Communications.

Aman is of East Indian descent on his father’s side, and speaks Spanish fluently thanks to 2 years of missionary service in Santiago, Chile. Aman is married and has a two young sons who he is working hard to expose to the joy that is the world of sports. In his free time, Aman likes to attend sporting events with his wife (a Seattle Mariners fan) and parents (49ers & Kings fans). He also enjoys playing basketball, golf, soccer, baseball, tennis, and ultimate Frisbee. Besides sports, his other interests include Bollywood films, east coast pizza, and watching Thomas the Tank Engine movies with his son. If you have a sports story you think needs to be told, or just want to talk sports, feel free to e-mail Aman: achabra@kjct8.com
