GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

Students at Orchard Avenue Elementary got a special surprise Wednesday morning.

Four downtown businesses teamed up to bring adventure and imagination to young readers in District 51.

Chris Brown, owner of Brown's Cycles bike shop, rode his bike from Main Street to the school to drop off the books.

Students were waiting outside and eagerly dug into the bin for their new books.

Brown says the reception at the school was an amazing experience.

"I was almost balling, it was amazing," he said. "Most of the school supplies our teachers have they're buying themselves with their own personal cash. So anytime a school teacher calls you up and asks you for a donation or to help out, jump on it because their working with their bare bones."

The book drive's goal is to encourage young readers to enjoy a book during the cold winter months, when it may be too cold to go outside.
