Snowmass ski expansion back on track
A federal judge has put plans to expand the Snowmass ski area back on track.
According to the Aspen Times (http://tinyurl.com/8zz5uoe ), U.S. District Court Judge James Boasberg denied a request on Friday for an injunction by an environmental group that would have stopped Aspen Skiing Co. from selective thinning of trees and brush on Burnt Mountain on the east side of Snowmass Ski Area.
The Ark Initiative filed a lawsuit Sept. 5 contending that the U.S. Forest Service unlawfully granted the ski company permission to cut trees in what it maintains is in a roadless area with special protection.
