GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

The sheriff’s posse was outside of city market this morning, despite the chilly weather, collecting food items for the Salvation Army.

It's a tradition the posse has kept up for the last thirty years.

Members of the posse trade shifts throughout the day, posting up with their food truck in front of city markets in Mesa County.

So far the food drive this year is going great.

They encourage everyone to come out and drop off just a few food items as folks pick up their weekly groceries.

Members of the posse say that absolutely anything helps.

Bob Johnson, Sheriff’s Posse member said, "Every bit of stuff that folks can give is appreciated, you know times are a little bit rough for everybody."

The posse has been posted outside of grocery stores since before thanksgiving and will continue to collect food items until the 16th of December.

If you'd like to drop off some food items after your trip to the grocery store you still have some time.

The posse will be camped out on the 32 road city market location in Clifton on December 1st and 2nd.

On the weekend of the 8th they'll be at the 24 road location in Grand Junction, and for their final weekend they'll be at the City Market in Orchard Mesa on the 16th of December.
