Senator Michael Bennet was in Grand Junction on Friday to highlight a local business and the new patent office that will be built in Colorado.
Bennet toured the GPD Global office in Grand Junction, saying it's a company with good wages and a growing business about to being the process of patenting its technologies.
He says businesses like GPD will see a huge benefit from having a patenting office in Colorado. It all came about thanks in part to an amendment he sponsored that created three new offices across the country.
"It helps brand this state for something we already know it is which is an innovative leader in aerospace, in energy, in bio-science and now the rest of the world is going to know what we already know," Sen. Bennet said.
He says not only Colorado will benefit, but the entire Rocky Mountain region. The new office will be built somewhere in the Denver metro area and is anticipated to lead to $450 million in economic activity over the next five years.
