Sen. Udall discusses monument status change
U.S. Senator, Mark Udall was in Grand Junction Saturday, meeting with Mesa County business leaders to hear how turning the Colorado National Monument into a national park would impact this area.
Sen. Udall says he's not going to move forward with any change related to the monument until the community decides it’s the right thing to do.
There’s no doubt that the change would draw in more tourism, meaning more jobs and an improved economy.
Still, there are many questions that people would like answered before the next step is taken.
“I hear more questions than flat out opposition,” Sen. Udall said
The Senator says changing the monument into a national park is something that the Grand Valley's business community supports.
