DENVER -

The U.S. Secret Service has ruled out any threat to President Barack Obama in comments that were included in profanity-laced e-mails a Colorado Springs man sent state Rep. Rhonda Fields.

Franklin Sain was arrested by Colorado authorities for sending Fields, D-Aurora, harassing e-mails and suspicion of attempting to influence a public official.

Police said he admitted sending her six e-mails filled with profanity and sexual and racial epithets and left similar voice mails between Feb. 13 and 15.

According to the Denver Post (http://tinyurl.com/brn5lem ), one of the e-mails warned of an overthrow of the government if Obama tried to take away guns.

The Secret Service says the comments are protected by free speech.
