Routine traffic stop turns into big drug recovery
A routine traffic stop turned into a major drug recovery; almost five pounds of meth amphetamine with an estimated street value of over two hundred thousand dollars.
The driver, Pablo Rene Avalos and passengers Ruben Gonzalez and Alexis Montoya Cazares were arrested after a deputy pulled a vehicle over on Interstate 70 because the driver was weaving in and out of lanes and adjusting speeds erratically.
According to the Garfield County Sheriff's office, the vehicle was impounded because the driver was unable to provide proof of insurance and his driving status had been revoked.
