GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

Dan Robinson, candidate for Colorado house district 55, made a campaign announcement today focusing on Colorado veterans.

Robinson wants to improve on the states policies for those who have served, starting with giving them better access to prime hunting grounds.

Robinson says veterans should be rewarded for what they've done for our country.

Because many veterans are hunters who enjoy the outdoors, Robinson decided that would be a great place to start.

Robinson says, “We need to make sure that vets get some acknowledgment from the rest of us in the state that says you know what, we appreciate you and we appreciate you enough to say you get a preference point when you go hunting.”

The preference points will allow veterans with a hunting license to get access to restricted areas where the elk and deer population are high.

Robinson hopes the policy will act as an incentive for veterans to stay active and get outdoors.
