At around noon Wednesday, fire officials in Montezuma County were notified of a rapidly growing fire near County Road 29 and County Road P.
That fire is said to be threatening 100 homes. High voltage power lines and a CDOT storage facility are also being threatened.
The fire is now estimated at 100 acres, but, as mentioned, continues to grow.
The flames have led to evacuations of at least 15-20 residents.
Those evacuating are being asked to check in at the Montezuma County Sheriff's substation which is located in Dolores.
Two Type 2 firefighting crews in addition to a Type 1 hotshot crew have been summoned. An initial air attack crew, Type 1 helicopter, single-engine air tanker, and heavy air tanker have also been ordered.
The Durango Interagency Fire Dispatch says it is unknown how many of these resources will be available because of the Wetmore Fire in Pueblo County.
The Red Cross is responding and two hotlines have been set up for those needing information.
