A Grand Junction retirement community is helping the Salvation Army as it works to collect toys and food for those in need.
Mesa View Senior Living Community is hosting Operation Toy Drop and Food Drive for the non-profit organization.
Mesa View, located off of 7th Street and Horizon Drive, will have two bins set up in front of the lobby. One bin will be for toys and the other for food.
Lori Longstrom-Henderson, a community sales leader for Mesa View, said they're asking for new toys that aren't wrapped, and non-perishable food items.
Longstrom-Henderson hopes to have both bins overflowing with donations in order to give the Salvation Army as much help as possible this Christmas.
"We want people to take a look at our community and see how wonderful and warm it is, and our residents enjoy giving back to the community as well, so we want to show that to Grand Junction," said Longstrom-Henderson.
On top of contributing to a great cause, Mesa View will be giving away several $100 Visa cards for those who donate items.
You just have to fill out an entry form and drop it into the raffle box, located in the front Lobby of Mesa View, to become eligible for a prize.
