MONTROSE, Colo. -

A crime spree in Montrose has authorities investigating and many victims fed up.

More and more reports of slashed tires are coming into the police department.

Parking lots are being targeted, often with multiple tires slashed in a single night.

We first heard concerns from a viewer who said it's happened to six of his friends.

Now he's one of the most recent victims.

"You never know when they're going to strike," the victim said.

This victim was forced to buy new tires. He wants to remain anonymous, concerned whomever is behind the crime will target his car again.

"They have no respect for people's property or the fact that they need to buy new tires,” he said.

He says he’s not alone. He knows a handful of others who've been burdened with the same costly repairs.

"There’s just an ongoing problem with this tire slashing and it’s been going on for months," he said.

Lt. Blaine Hall, with the Montrose Police Department, says, "Within the last month we've had nine vehicles that were involved in tire slashing."

It’s only a slight up-tick according to the police department, which says the crimes may be connected.

"It is a big deal,” Hall said.  “They need to give us a call and report it."

Authorities say they're investigating and when possible increasing patrols.

But with limited resources, some victims are concerned the problem will only continue.

"This is evidently an ongoing problem that's not being solved and something needs to happen," a victim said.
